Founders and Organizers
Nadezhda-2016 International Photo Contest (hereinafter referred to as Contest) has been founded and organized by Kaluga branch of the Russian Union of Art Photographers and the Kaluga municipal extra-curricular educational center – Children’s Art School No.2 named after S.S. Tulikov.
Goals and Objectives
Contest Goals include the popularization and development of youth creativity, the discovery and support of gifted amateur photographers as well as an exchange of experience.
Contest Objectives:
• development of artistic taste as well as skills of imaginative and emotional reality exploration;
• exhibition of creative achievements of young photographers;
• search and exhibition of new photographic forms;
• exhibition of creative achievements of children’s and youth photo clubs;
• introduction of young people to the classics of international amateur photography.
Location, Schedule and Procedure
Contest will be held in the City of Kaluga from January 12, 2016 through June 12, 2016.
Deadline for applications by e-mail: March 31, 2016
Announcement of participants of exhibition: April 30, 2016
Announcement of results and Photo Exhibition - June 7-12, 2016.
Terms and Conditions
Contest is open to students and young people between the ages up to 35, which study photography at art schools, studios or be a member of professional photographic unions.
Age divisions
Up to 14,
15-19,
20-25,
26-35.
The topic of works is free.
Works should NOT:
• include violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive content and content which may be an offense to somebody’s religious feelings,
• include advertising content, frames, author’s copyrights, logos, watermarks.
Works which were applied for Nadezhda contest earlier are not allowed.
Participants warrant that they have the author’s rights for works. Participants agree with usage of their works for exhibition, electronic and published media for informing about exhibition and photo festival without paying royalties. Organizers warrant that each publication will have author’s name.
How to enter
Both individual photos and photo series built around a single subject may be entered. A photo series shall include from 3 to 6 photos. Each photo series shall be evaluated as 1 work. Every participant may enter up to 6 works.
Photo series isn’t only a set of photos. Photos should be united by concept and history. Author can add a text to series.
The Contest accepts photographs in JPEG format with a maximum of 1000 pixels on the long side, not larger than 1 MB.
Each file should be named as follow:
SURNAME_NAME_AGE_TYPE_TITLE_ORGANIZATION.jpg , where
SURNAME = author’s surname;
NAME = author’s name;
AGE = author’s age;
TYPE = single work or series;
TITLE = title of work or series; works in series should have number at the end of file name;
ORGANIZATION = name of art school, studio or professional photographic union in which author is a member.

Photos and entry forms (Annex 1) should be uploaded to file hosting like Google Drive or Yandex.Disk and link to files should be e-mailed to: nadezhda-konkurs@yandex.ru
Deadline for applications by e-mail: March 31, 2016
E-mail letters will be sent to authors whose works are chosen for exhibition. After receipt of letter author will have 7 days to:
1. send maximum quality photographs in JPEG format,
2. send works on paper with the size 20õ30cm to post address: Grishakov Vitaly 7, ul. Voronina, Kaluga, Russia 248001
Works accepted into the final exhibition are non-returnable.
Evaluation criteria and procedure
The works of the Contest participants shall be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of highly qualified photo art professionals.
The judges shall determine the award winners for each age category by an open majority vote.
The judges shall use the following criteria to evaluate the works: originality, expressiveness, skill, quality, and novelty of approach.
Judges decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Awards
For each age group the judges shall award Grand Prix and winners, as well as a special “Best photo studio” award for the best selection of works presented by a photo studio. All participants of the final exhibition shall be awarded certificates of participation.
The judges shall use their own discretion to decide which places to award or whether the same place should be awarded to several participants in the same group and category.
Financial terms and conditions
Participants or their sponsors shall be responsible for their own travel, food and accommodation expenses.
