Днем я мечтал о полуночных прогулках с фотоаппаратом, а вечером отыскивались причины, чтобы их отложить на следующий раз… Не будет обманом, если скажу, что пребывал в этом противоборстве месяцев шесть, прежде чем испытал непередаваемый восторг ночной съемки, превзошедшей все мои ожидания. Я словно попал в иную реальность и, действительно, слишком велик контраст между ночью и днем. Мир, который существует благодаря уличному освещению и призрачному свету луны, покорил меня и, нажимая на спуск, я лишь переживал, что не смогу не умолить его красоты, набросив на него рамки фотокадра… |  | |
 | | The visual environment always emanates charm and beauty, though the rhythm and the priorities of modern life drive them to the background. Life rushes at incredible speed and you can barely notice the images behind the window as if you were sitting in a carriage. I am inside this carriage of fortune, but I’ve learnt to halt and get out to breath the fresh air and during slow expiration to cast a glance at the beauty around. At these moments I make my little discoveries. When you shake off the burden of care you turn into the person who can see, hear and feel. It shouldn’t be the privilege of elite to stand and stare at the beauty of nature. Contemplation can give you such an incredible enjoyment.
Evening and night are full of splendor, though most of us are hardly active at these hours. We are glad to fall into laziness being proud of the job we’ve done during the day. Even if you are ready to open for the world, you still can’t dig yourself out of the couch and get out. Our unconscious adviser whispers into your ear something about “dark, cold, damp and dangerous”.
In the afternoon I was dreaming about night walks with the camera and in the evening I was looking for the reasons why to postpone them. I make no secret of the fact that I was trying to overcome this laziness for nearly six months. And than I threw myself into the ecstasy of night shooting. I seemed to get into another reality, the contrast between night and day was tremendous. The world that exists due to street lamps and the deem light of the Moon, conquered me and, while making a shot, I only prayed not to belittle its beauty. I should add that together with the feeling of delight there was another feeling of small victory over myself.
I can endlessly describe the splendor of night scenes from startling and mysterious ones to transparent and airy in the light of street lamps. But, as they say, seeing is believing…
